Lyrics from Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind” embody the spirit of this month’s Highlight. VP Operations Manager, Cindy Baird emphasizes, “She is an absolute delight. Hard working and talented but even more, such a great person.” As the lyrics state, our Highlight is realizing both her contributions to Homeowners Financial Group and a dream that came along with her recent wedding in May of this year. Congratulations!
Merianne Reid-Akers joined HFG in February 2018 and works her tail off as an Underwriter based in our Roseville, CA branch. As an Underwriter, Merianne’s primary responsibility is critical as she reviews and verifies the “3 C’s” – Credit, Capacity and Collateral before issuing the magical Clear to Close. Her passion for helping people become homeowners is always present, but she remains humble when a Processor praises her with a ‘Yay, excited to work with you on this loan!’ Merianne adds, “Knowing they appreciate me makes me want to work even harder for them.” A big reason she joined us was based on her working relationship with another Homie and kindly expresses, “My team lead, Glena Stachey, is my work BFF. She is always available to me and never hesitates to let me know that I’m doing a good job. It makes going to work even that much sweeter.”
Outside of work, we continue to celebrate Merianne’s nuptials to husband Craig. They spend a ton of time together, and you can often find them riding their Harley-Davidson. Sometimes they bring out their electric bikes, which do require pedaling but allow you to travel further without getting as tired! Other downtime activities includes walking their dog Aussie (named after Craig who is Australian) or laying around with their cats Nero, Archie and Lily. An avid shopper, Merianne is kind to remind her hubby that yes, she does indeed need another purse. It is perfect for the shoes she also bought.
Blending work with charity, the Roseville team is very involved in the community. “Our office recently hosted an event to raise funds and awareness for Canine Companions for Independence. My mother-in-law jumped in and offered to make dog blankets to sell at the event, which raised about $300. In fact, before the event was over, she made sure that not one dog and owner left without a blanket of their own… no charge!” Back at the office, Merianne enjoys a great network of employees to share witty humor with or collaborate on transactions. She explains, “I am so thankful for Patti Porter, who is such a great resource if need to bounce something off of a very experienced Underwriter. And Cindy steps in anytime I just need some help on a tough one. What a blessing the whole Underwriting family is at HFG.” Humble and kind!
