“We are each of us Angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another.” – Luciano De Crescenzo
A set of wings is formed as Jenn Hoberg, LMP and Culture Committee Lead, describes the subject of this month’s Homie Highlight, Angel Carter, as someone who makes the world a better place. “She truly lives the distinction to the fullest as ‘a person of exemplary conduct or virtue’ and it shows every single day to her Homies, family, church, and community. Honestly, she inspires me to be better, do more, and give more, which is why I chose her non-profit Hope Garage to receive the $2,000 pledged by Homeowners when I received the Community Champion Award last year. Her passion to carry on a family legacy after a tragic loss is beyond admirable. Thank you for caring so deeply about everyone you serve, it truly shows.”
Angel is an Events Specialist who started with Homeowners in February 2020 and is based out of our Austin, Texas branch. While not in the same position as when she began at Homeowners, her hard work and always helpful approach allowed two things to come together, and Angel is overjoyed about going back to her passion of event planning in her current role.
“Being offered the position as Events Specialist was a huge blessing and showed me that Homeowners really does pay attention to the work we do and listen to the feedback of those around you,” Angel reflects. “I told the Executive Team I could not think of a better position for me to be in and was honored to be given this opportunity.”
Caroline Conner, Director of Corporate Culture, SPHR, talks about Angel soaring in the role of her dreams, adding, “Angel is such a joy to work with. She radiates positivity and is a true team player willing to help out wherever needed. Her attention to detail, hospitality, and get-it-done attitude make her shine!”
When Angel is not overseeing the events of others, she lives every minute of her life balance with her husband and two sons. Everything is bigger in Texas, and their road trips show it as they hit high school gyms to cheer on their oldest boy in wrestling meets and visit baseball diamonds in all corners of the state to watch their youngest son excel. Being in the live music capital of Texas, they unwind in that atmosphere or by bringing the tunes with them boating on the various lakes in the area.
Angel’s virtue is quietly seen here with her creation and oversight of the non-profit Hope Garage, created in honor of an amazing person who passed before his time. Angel celebrates and remembers her brother and his passion for cars by offering free automotive services to her community in need.
Serving others remains her focus at work. While helping other Homies to deliver an experience, she expresses, “I was very honored to be a part of an outstanding team of leaders who put together the most recent President’s Club Trip.” She adds, “whether it was the smaller events at a branch and team level or recently getting to work with Erin Dueck, Caroline Conner, and David King, my greatest joy is getting to step back after the work has been put in to see everything come together and hear how much everyone enjoyed it.”
Angel’s impact is felt as she wraps her wing around others and encourages them to do the same. We continue to support and applaud her efforts as our company events remain a priority. Recognition, rewards, and relationships drive these fantastic occasions. See for yourself in this recap video of the most recent President’s Club Trip!
