Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life’s deepest joy: true fulfillment. – Tony Robbins

Homeowners Financial Group continues to be on record for having the best employee population, and there may not be a greater display of the outstanding people at our organization than this month’s Homie Highlight, Nick Walker. Through his dedication to his family, work and career, and just helping others achieve fulfillment, his contributions and joy are felt with every step. Area Manager David Karamitros talks about the well balanced nature of his region’s exceptional representative expressing, “He is an example of our very heartbeat here in the great Southeast Region-the prototypical teammate. He stands ready to help anyone regarding anything; and will do so every single time with a smile on his face. What’s even more inspiring is that he is equally as exceptional at home serving as an incredible dad/husband/friend to his sweet family and those he holds near & dear! We’re lucky to have him… Proud to be on HIS team!”

Nick is a Licensed Mortgage Professional Assistant serving with us at our Cleveland, GA location and is approaching his second Homieversary next month. As an LMPA, Nick understands the mortgage loan and application process and is qualified to speak with Clients and Referral Partners about loan details, progress, and often the next positive milestone. It’s common for this role to answer questions along the way and be a critical day-to-day resource for all involved in obtaining mortgage financing. Nick works alongside team namesake Jerry Stover, Sales Manager and Licensed Mortgage Professional, who explains Nick’s do servant qualities: “Nick is an invaluable member of Team Stover. He goes above and beyond for every customer we have. One recent example last month, he went to a client’s house that is technology challenged to help with some documentation we needed and to assist in getting other documents signed. He jumps in and learns anything new and always helps others learn them as well. He is a workhorse!” This powerful team has elevated themselves to President’s Club recipients where they look to continue that trend with their high quality service and referral based network.

When not delivering “any means necessary” for clients, Nick loves to spend time with his son Cam and wife Shanna. In his spare time, Nick also runs an antique auction with his parents called North Georgia Auction Company, servicing all of North Georgia, mainly conducting online auctions along with their antique store. However, his primary role above all is caring for the aforementioned Cam, who was diagnosed with Epidermolytic Ichthyosis (EI) at birth. A very rare condition (1 in 300,000), the skin is both extremely fragile and blisters easily, but on the joints and flexures the skin also grows very thick, hard and brittle and can limit mobility. This makes everyday life a challenge, and those affected must spend up to 3 hours daily just caring for their skin to make them comfortable and reduce the risk of potentially fatal infections. As passionate parents, he and Shanna have become very involved in helping spread accurate information about this condition in hopes that one day Cam can have some of his daily challenges reduced or removed from routine. As a member of our Culture Committee, Nick was recently asked to give an update on his family and took the chance to let his heart speak: “The doctors seem extremely confident that it is not a matter of “if” they can find a cure. They seem like they know they can with proper funding and trials. If someone has the means to donate, that is great. I realize times are difficult financially for many, but sharing is absolutely free! I’ll be more than happy to share our experience if people have questions. I can also share pictures of little CamCam from infant to 15 months to show the progression.” Homeowners is fortunate to amplify the progress for his child and the efforts in distributing their message.

As we turn back to mortgage loans and the expedited process of moving things forward, Nick is well known within the circle of his Operations partners. Commonly referred to as the fulfillment side of the industry, Emily Guin is a Loan Processor for Team Stover who works closely with Nick. The sincerity continues in their relationship and collaboration to close on time. Emily adds, “Nick is just an all-around great guy! Professionally, he is always willing to roll up his sleeves on any loan to jump in to help in any way possible. He develops a great relationship upfront with our borrowers and puts them at ease with explaining thoroughly the process of obtaining a mortgage loan. You can always count on Nick to try to go over and beyond for his team and borrowers.  Personally, Nick is just a very kind and thoughtful person! He talks about his family, and you just know how much he loves and cares for them!” Nick embodies what it means to be a Homie and with no knowledge of the pending article on him, his colors again shine saying, “Thank you so much for letting me share. Cam has a great support system at home, but it’s nice to know he has a Homie family behind him as well.” We are proud that he chose to bring his talents to us and we take this opportunity to spotlight him, the Walker family and their cause.  We join Nick in helping his community and the many communities bonded together in finding a cure for EI.

3 words that best describe Nick:  Dependable. Genuine. Selfless.
